From Singapore and Japan to the world.

Taking the ancient art of sake brewing into the future.

The Orchid Craftworks is a unification of the Singapore and Japanese spirit: a respect for the past with both feet in the future.

Being a partnership between two distinct countries, We understand that no palate is universal, and that one’s taste is defined by our collective stories of places and people.

Brewing outside the bounds of Japanese regulations and within the sphere of Singaporean innovation, we reimagine sake by offering drinkers around the world a uniquely tailored experience in consultation with our client’s expertise.

The sky is the limit.

Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding

Be part of the journey. While offering a bridge between our two countries and the world, there’s no way we can’t have everybody on board while we do it too. We currently have two brewing plans to redefine the sake world in both Japan and Singapore. If you want in too, please take a look.

*work in other countries is already on the way. this page updated will be updated with them soon.

Japan

Japan, as we all know, has no lack of their own world-famous, indigenous fruits. The only way they make this work is by supporting local producers, and seriously limiting export of foreign fruit to their country. With sake respectfully mixed with the multitudinous and delicious fruit of South East Asia, we hope to give Japan a new, exotic taste of the world beyond its borders.

Brewing in Singapore allows us access to many things beyond what is possible compared to Japan, allowing us to experiment and collaborate with Japanese breweries and their people in creating products that expand the alcoholic beverage world. Our crowdfunding for our first few tanks is a humble one - a want to create a sake fitting for the unique Singaporean palate.

Singapore

Our Ingredients

  • Water

Our brewery is located in Jurong Food Hub in the west of Singapore. Being located in a food production district ensures that our water is drawn from Singapore’s imported supply from Malaysia. As such, we naturally avoid brewing with Singapore’s NEWwater supply.

  • Rice

Having no natural rice fields, we rely on imported rice from across South East Asia. This allows us access to the beautiful variety of rice that are integral to the region’s cuisine. Our highly polished rice is limited to the standard Japanese sake rice, as there are no capable rice polishing machines in Singapore.

  • Koji

All our koji is produced on-site at our facility. We currently use only Japanese rice to create koji due to its structural predilection for mold growth. We are also currently researching into growing koji onto local rice as well.

  • Yeast

All of the yeast we used is currently sourced from the Japanese Brewing Association. We do not use any airborne yeasts.

Our People

We believe that over anything else that good sake brewing comes from its ingredients, but great sake brewing is solely reliant on the hands that make it. Our staff and brewing crew come from myriad backgrounds and nationalities, truely purporting a brewing culture for the world.
